1 year ago our family became complete. You entered the world quiet as a lamb, making no more then a single cry and then calmly taking in your new surroundings. We marveled at how peaceful you were. The nurses called you “pleasant” after your first night in the nursery. The next couple months you were an easy, mellow, sweet and smiley baby. But once you started crawling at 6 months we realized you had a wild side. I think T could stand for trouble sometimes with you. you have a way of finding it instantly. I can turn my back for a moment and you will have found a way to not open only open the dishwasher but pull out the bottom rack and find not the spoon or bowl but a knife. In the bathtub we have to repeatedly remind you to sit down and not pull the drain plug out or worse eat it. Your favorite game while watching tv is to pull out the cable card and throw it around the living room and find interesting hiding spots for it so that later on when you go to bed nobody can watch TV. We joked that for your birthday present we should just get you a roll of toilet paper since you have a radar for them and can shred and entire roll in a matter of seconds. Garbage cans and toilet bowl brushes must be kept on countertops because you can;t resist them when they are in reach. We are not surprised that your first word was not mama or dada but UT OH.
Yup you are trouble. But you make us laugh all day long and you do it all with the most angelic face and you charm everyone you meet. Sabrina has picked on up your mischievous ways and will call out “Thérèse is being wild!” when she sees you on the path to trouble. You have a special squeal you make just for her and it makes me smile watching the two of you play together and I love how you just go along with whatever Sabrina has planned for you, whether it’s beauty parlor or playing school or holding your hand while you walk across the room.
I can’t believe a year has passed since bringing you home from the hospital and you have grown into a walking and independent little girl right before our eyes. I just can’t help myself; I still rock you before you go to sleep…it’s the only time you remain still. Cuddling you in the glider is the most peaceful time of the day.
Happy Birthday our sweet, happy and wild baby. Don’t grow too fast.
