My birthday girl

You have talked about this day for weeks.  Starting when you declared that you wanted your birthday party to be a “Dance Party”.  You planned your dance party with the same excitement and joy that you bring to every project.  You believe with such conviction that the world will change as you know it now that you are 5 and I think some of that has worn off on me.  I am feeling emotional about this bittersweet milestone.  I wish I could bottle up your innocence and happiness and keep you this way for a little while longer.

You happily go wherever I take you and have even convinced your sister that the post office is “fantastic” because you get to write your name and draw a picture on the priority mail stickers.  They know us by name at Chase bank and your face lights up when you get your blue lollipop.  Your favorite store is Target because they have so many pretty and sparkly things there.  You are the biggest girly girl and you make my day when you tell me that my outfit is “really cool”.  You are my buddy in dressing rooms (anthropologie is your favorite because they have fancy mirrors).

You are everything I ever hoped for in a daughter and I am so proud that you are such a loving, compassionate, optimistic and sensitive person.  I can always count on you for a hug when I need one and I love that that you will start off any random morning by saying: “Mommy, today is going to be a special day.”

Today really is a special day.

Happy Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday to Sabrina! She is always a pure joy to be around and is so good with Xander, who adores her. My favorite memory of Sabrina is when you guys were on your way to Xander’s first Birthday party and she said, “Mommy, I’d like to make a new friend today.” And she did. Such a friendly, sweet and beautiful girl.ReplyCancel

    Happy Birthday Sabrina!
I love what you wrote, it almost brought tears to my eyes. I wish we could all get back our childish innocence and have that kind of optimistic view!ReplyCancel

    Oh My!
While your daughter is quite special, you are the same.
You have brought tears to my eyes and have rekindled fond memories of a different time when my own were this age.

May the Holiday Season bring you much joy but my guess is you don’t need the holidays to appreciate and celebrate life.
    Fondly,
    ChrisReplyCancel
